Turkey: 54,322 road motor vehicles registered in April

ANKARA (AA): Turkey saw 54,322 new registrations of road motor vehicles in April, the country’s statistical authority reported Friday.

TurkStat said the number of new motor vehicle registrations last month fell 44.2% year-on-year. Among the 54,322 vehicle registrations in April, cars accounted for 55.1%, followed by motorcycles at 25.4%, small trucks at 11.4% and tractors at 4.6%, according to TurkStat.

“Minibuses, buses, trucks and special purpose vehicles constituted 3.5% of new registrations,” the institute said.

In terms of the distribution of brands, 18% of all newly registered cars were Fiat, 16.1% were Renault and 8.7% were Volkswagen.

”The total number of road motor vehicles registered to the traffic reached 23,008,927 by the end of April,” TurkStat said.

Official figures revealed that within the total, cars represented 54.2%, followed by small trucks 16.4%, while the rest were motorcycles, tractors, trucks, minibuses, buses and special purpose vehicles.

Last year, new registrations of motor vehicles in Turkey totaled at 903,274 while 256,298 registrations were withdrawn.

The country’s statistical authority will release its next report on road motor vehicles on July 4.
