Turkish police arrest 64 illegal Afghan immigrants

KABUL (Khaama Press): According to Turkish officials, 64 Afghan refugees in Arzantan City who had entered Turkey illegally were detained.
These illegal Afghan immigrants were the most recent in the growing number of arrests of people with similar offences after they were found hiding in a truck containing electronic devices.
This incident occurred on the Arzanjan-Arzum highway, which has been identified as a route for smuggling illegal immigrants.
According to the Turkish authorities, the truck’s driver was Iranian. The detained migrants were then promptly sent to a facility.
Earlier in June, Turkish authorities deported over 138 Afghan immigrants to their home country as part of its efforts to tackle illegal immigration.
Turkish authorities have promised to continue extradition operations as a sign of their commitment to defending their borders and addressing the concerns of illegal immigration.
The recent deportation of 138 Afghan asylum seekers by Turkey has aggravated the situation of Afghan immigrants already seeking refuge in surrounding countries. Iran and Turkey have stepped up their deportation efforts and adopted measures to cut down on illegal immigration due to their immigration issues.
The General Directorate of Migration said that 68,290 of the 124,441 illegal immigrants deported by Turkey in the previous year were Afghan asylum seekers.
The General Directorate of Migration reports that Turkey deported 68,290 Afghan citizens, 12,511 Pakistanis, and immigrants from other countries in the past year. The Turkish government’s migration service said this year it would deport more undocumented immigrants and asylum seekers, including 227 citizens of Afghanistan.
Since the Taliban retook power in Afghanistan in August 2021, thousands of Afghans have immigrated to surrounding nations out of fear of being persecuted, killed, or physically harassed.
