Two held for injuring cop during robbery attempt

PESHAWAR: Capital City Police claimed to have arrested two suspected persons, involved in robbery and injuring Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) while showing a resistance during raid conducted in jurisdiction of Mathra police station, on Monday.

According to police spokesman, a few days ago two unknown persons had looted a police cop identified as Waqar Hussain at gun point and opened fire on him while showing resistance in a result he got injured.

Spokesman added that Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operation Zahoor Babar Afridi took notice of the incident and constituted a team in the supervision of SP Rural Najam-Ul-Hasnain and handed over a task to trace and arrests the culprits involved in a crime.

The police team started investigation on scientific base and interrogated different suspects during interrogation a team reached to real culprits and arrested them on the spot.

The arrested persons identified as Syed Rehman Resident of Yakatoot and Faisal Resident of Gulbahar No. 4. Polce also recovered looted money from their possession.

The arrested persons confessed to their crime in initial interrogation and further investigation is under way from them.
