U.S. aims to improve maritime security, ocean resources exploration, inventory waters exploration; maritime domain awareness that fall within the jurisdiction of U.S said the spokesperson of U.S. State Department.
The revision of policy is focused on research on U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone and on the U.S. continental shelf abiding by the international law and law of the seas.
As a research nation, the United States recognizes the importance of MSR and its valuable contributions to society, and we will continue to facilitate MSR consent added the Spokesperson.
The change in policy is steadfast with international law as reflected in the Law of the Sea Convention.
The policy aims to protect the interest of costal states and interests on the U.S. the changes in policy will enhance the U.S. maritime domain awareness.
Awareness will be ensured by the presence of U.S. vessel on the maritime routes and personnel conducting the MSR said the U.S. spokesperson.
