ABU DHABI (Agencies): The UAE is closely monitoring the ongoing developments in Syria, the country’s foreign ministry said on Monday, emphasizing its commitment to the “unity and integrity of the Syrian state.”
In a statement, the ministry called on all parties in Syria “to prioritize wisdom during the critical juncture in Syria’s history, in a manner that fulfils the aspirations and ambitions of all segments of the Syrian population.”
Damascus stirred back to life on Monday at the start of a hopeful but uncertain era after armed opposition forces seized the capital and president Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia, following 13 years of civil war and more than 50 years of his family’s brutal rule.
World nations, including the US, have called on all parties in Syria to execute a peaceful transition of power, ensuring the safety of its population and preventing any descent into chaos and instability.
