KIEV (TASS): The Armed Forces of Ukraine have strengthened the air defense system in the northern direction of the country in preparation for the strategic command and staff exercises “United Efforts – 2021”. This was announced on Saturday by the Center air command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

“As part of the strategic command and staff exercises” United Efforts – 2021 “, the air defense system in the northern direction has been strengthened,” said a message posted on the command’s Facebook page.

It is also noted that the subdivisions of the radio-technical and anti-aircraft missile forces of the Center air command have moved to certain positions, which “makes it possible to significantly strengthen the system of radar reconnaissance and anti-aircraft missile cover.” In this regard, the command appealed to the residents of the Chernihiv region of Ukraine with a request “not to interfere with and not to disclose the routes of the redeployment of troops,” stressing that “all activities are carried out within the framework of exercises.”

The Chernihiv region is located in the north of Ukraine, it borders on the Bryansk region of Russia, and in the north-west – on the Gomel region of Belarus.

The Joint Efforts command-staff exercise will be held by Ukraine from September 22 to 30 jointly with 15 countries, 11 of which are NATO members. Representatives of the armed forces of Great Britain, Georgia, Italy, Jordan, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, USA, Hungary and Sweden will arrive in Ukraine. The trainings will take place at all military training grounds in Ukraine, as well as in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas. They will be attended by up to 12.5 thousand people and more than 600 units of weapons and military equipment.

As stated earlier in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the exercises, among other things, will serve as “an element of deterring the aggressor.”

On the eve of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine made a decision on the admission of foreign participants to the military exercises “United Efforts – 2021”.
