KABUL: The United Nations Security Council in a statement on Thursday condemned in the “strongest terms” the “heinous and cowardly terrorist attack” at the Dharamshala Sikh Temple in Kabul on March 25, in which at least 25 people were killed and many wounded.
Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The council expressed their sympathy to victims’ families and to the Afghan government, the statement said, adding that “terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.”
The members of the Security Council underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice.
They urged all states to cooperate actively with the Government of Afghanistan and all other relevant authorities in this regard, the statement said.
Members of the Security Council reiterated that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable.
They reaffirmed the need for all states to combat threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts, the statement read.
The attack was widely condemned by the Afghan government, its partners and international organizations. (TOLOnews)
