UNAMA extends warm regards to Afghans

KABUL: The United Nations family in Afghanistan extended warm regards to all Afghans on Nowruz, according to a statement from the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) on Tuesday.

“As the country marks the New Year and the beginning of spring at a time of renewal and celebration, on occasion for promoting the values of peace and solidarity between generations and communities,” the UNAMA statement said.

“On the eve of this important day, the UNAMA family expressed hope that the year ahead brings harmony to the Afghan people, who deserve a future free from conflict and filled with prosperity, hope and, above all else, peace,” said Tadamichi Yamamoto, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of the UNAMA said.

The United Nations, he said, would remain steadfast in its commitment to supporting the Afghan people.
