Unilateral actions detrimental to cooperation between Pak, US

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Faisal Thursday while condemning the drone strike in Kurram Agency which targeted an Afghan refugee camp, said such unilateral actions are detrimental to the spirit of cooperation between the two countries in fight against terrorism.

During the weekly press briefing here in Foreign Office, he said Pakistan has always emphasized to the US that sharing of actionable intelligence is an important part of mutual cooperation so that appropriate action can be taken against terrorist by our forces.

He said Pakistan has also been stressing about the need for early repatriation of afghan refugees as their presence in the country helps Afghan terrorists to morph among them.

“Pakistan has always believed that an Afghan-led political government is only the solution of Afghan issues”, he added.

Replying to a question he said UNHCR’s team is in Pakistan and it is part of their regular visits.

He said there is a clear contradiction between India’s statement and action regarding the policy of missile technology.

He said Indian forces along the LoC and the Working Boundary are continuously engaged in indiscriminate and unprovoked firing with heavy mortars and automatic weapons on the civilian populated villages.

“In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 160 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary in just 19 days”, he added.
