TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Jan Mohammad, 30, from northern Takhar province says he wanted to become an engineer but due to an unprofessional physician he became a disabled person and had to depend on his family.
During his childhood when Mohammad felt sick he was taken to a hospital for treatment but due to the unprofessional administration of injection by a physician he was paralyzed.
He demanded government to establish clinics in the far-flung areas of the country.
The patients sometimes succumb to death because of the non-availability of health centers in remote areas and because of the lack of other facilities to evacuate patients to the hospitals in other areas.
Hailing from Rustaq district Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News: “I felt sick in my childhood, my family was had to take me to a non-professional physician because there were no professional doctors in the area where we lived to treat me. The physician administered an injection to me and which caused my disability and now I depend on my family.”
With disabled leg, exhausted body, tired face, Mohammd searches for occupation on the roads and streets of Taloqan City.
He said while his eyes were welled up: “I wished to become an engineer and serve the people but unprofessional approach of a so called physician in our area caused my disability which destroyed my life and now I am a disabled persons and need support from others.”
He added deprivation from health facilities in the remote areas caused patients to fall victims.
Jan Mohammad asked the government to create health centers in remote areas to prevent such incidents and deaths of some patients.
He has also expressed his concern about the deteriorated economic situation of the country and said that his aged father was the only bread winner of their seven member family.
He said: “I knocked multiple times on the gates of the humanitarian institutions and on the department of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs, but I got no assistance”.
He asked the government to pay attention to the people with disabilities.
But Maualvi Ihsanullah, the head of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs Department said, the inspection of the documents of the disabled and martyrs was still going on in Takhar province, but it was just paused because of the end of fiscal year, it will resume in the new year again.
Attempts are under way that no disabled will be deprived from his/her stipends, he said.
However, the provincial health department officials told Pajhwok that some health centers were established and funded in remote areas of Takhar province.
