KANDAHAR CITY (TOLOnews): Worth $600 million, development projects are underway in the southern provinces of the country.
The officials of the Ministry of Public Works says that these projects include Zabul-Kandahar, Kandahar-Uruzgan, and Helmand-Kandahar highways as well as bridges.
“The work started in the southern zone and is worth more than $600 million,” said Sher Hussain Khoshiwal, the head of the Ministry of Public Works projects in the southwest zone.
A number of citizens of the country want the officials to seriously survey the quality of work of these projects.
“It has to be good, well-made, so that we don’t have any problems in the future,” said Gulalai, a resident.
“Our request to the Islamic Emirate is to work on this project to bring facilities to the people,” said Nesar Ahmad, a driver.
“There are lots of destroyed roads around the city, we ask the Islamic Emirate to pay attention to this place as well,” said Abdul Baqi Zahed, a Kandahar resident.
Local officials of Kandahar say that for the purpose of saving and protecting the highways they do not allow trucks that carry more than 2 tons of cargo.
If the trucks are overloaded we reduce their load, and we don’t allow any truck to bring too much weight and put us in trouble,” said Ahmad Ahmadi, Scales Manager of the Public Works Department of Kandahar.
According to the information of the Ministry of Public Works, with the completion of the road construction work from Arghandab district of Kandahar to Dehraawud district of Uruzgan, many problems will be solved.
