US Assistant Secretary of State departs for Pakistan visit

WASHINGTON (APP): US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells has left Washington for a visit of Pakistan on Wednesday, Dunya News reported.

Alice Wells will meet civil and military leadership during her visit to Pakistan. The visit holds great importance as she is the first high-level US official to arrive, after US President Donald Trump accused Pakistan of harboring terrorists.

US Acting Assistant Secretary of State will discuss issues related to the region during her meetings with Pakistan officials. She will also hold discussion on Pakistan’s role in the reconciliation process in Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan and India will also come under discussion during Alice Wells meetings with Pakistani officials in Islamabad.

Alice Wells will also finalize details of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s upcoming visit to Pakistan.
