US Consul General meets KP Minister

PESHAWAR: The American Consulate General Panfilo Marquez on Tuesday met with Minister for Labour Shaukat Ali Yousafzai and discussed various matters related to sports, culture and tourism.

Minister Council Public Affairs William Ostic and Public Affairs Officer Monica Davis were also present on this occasion.

The American Consulate officials told the Provincial Minister that they will organize regional sports events and culture related activities and full bright scholarships in the province.

The Consulate General reiterated his support and cooperation regarding the organization of cultural activities for the youth.

They desired to digitize the Peshawar Museum and the preservation and exchange of cultural heritage in the province.

Provincial Minister Shaukat Yousafzai on the occasion while appreciating their efforts said that due to terrorism, the entertainment activities in this region have been affected. He said that the artists have gone abroad while many artists have left their professions.

He reiterated the full cooperation of the provincial government regarding the revival of sports and and regional cultural activities.

The provincial minister said that our artists have the best talent, but due to the fear of terrorism, they have shifted to other countries.

Officials of the American Consulate asked the provincial government to seek proposals for priority projects on which they would provide financial support and assistance.

Shaukat Yousafzai said that by paying attention to the traditional dance, food, dress and sports here, the people can get recreational activities back.

The officials of the American Consulate informed the Provincial Minister about the visit of the American Ambassador to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which is scheduled soon.
Provincial Minister Shaukat Yousafzai expressed gratitude for the matters of interest and said that the provincial government will provide full support and trust in this regard.
