US should control drone strikes during Afghan peace talks: Foreign Minister

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif has said United States should control the exercise of drone strike when the efforts of reviving the peace talks are underway with Afghan Taliban.

This he said while talking to private news channel. Khawaja Asif was hopeful that the four nation meeting in Oman will bring positive result of reviving the peace talks with the Afghan Taliban, however US show some respect towards the efforts and control the drone strikes in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He added that US is not providing any aid to Pakistan and adding that we want relations with US based on equality.

The four nations including Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, and the United States started dialogue on Monday in Oman with the aim to revive Afghan-Taliban peace settlement.

But it was not clear if any Afghan Taliban had joined the talks, which have so far failed to restart a tentative process that collapsed in 2015.

The Pakistani delegation is being led by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua.
