ISLAMABAD: The United States of America designated Hizbul Mujahideen as foreign terrorist organization after more than 50 days of naming the Syed Salah-u-Din Chief as global terrorist.
The US state Department said in a statement that by declaring Hizb-ul-Mijahideen will expose and isolate terrorist groups and individuals and adding that this action will help the law enforcement agencies of US and other government in future to contain terrorist activities.
It added that the group is involved in global terrorist activities and claimed responsibility of several attacks with the aim to destroy the Indian interest in Kashmir.
The State Department added that the Kashmiri group was declared a foreign terrorist organization under the section 219 of the immigration and Nationality Act and as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). These designations seek to deny the outfit the resources it needs to carry out attacks.
