GHAZNI: The United States on Tuesday recovered the remains of two personnel from a US military aircraft that crashed in Ghazni province, US forces in Afghanistan said in a statement on Tuesday.
On Monday, the US military said an E-11A aircraft had crashed, and there was no indication that the plane had been shot down. On Tuesday, local police officials said the Afghan and US forces planned a military operation to clear the area and recover the remains of the plane. The plane crashed in an area that is under the control of that Taliban.
“The force also recovered what is assessed to be the aircraft flight data recorder. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, however there are no indications the crash was caused by enemy fire,” US forces said.
“The remains were found near the crash site, treated with dignity and respect by the local Afghan community, in accordance with their culture,” it said.
“Pending positive identification and in accordance with US Department of Defense policy, the names of the service members are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete,” it added.(TOLOnews)
