US missile stationing and world

The deployment of US medium and intermediate-range ground-based missiles in the Asia-Pacific region would destabilize the area and the world and would undoubtedly provoke a response by the Russian side. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova vowed while responding to US move during a press conference.

While referring Japanese media reports, Zakharova stressed that the deployment of American medium and shorter-ranged ground-based missiles in any configuration in various parts of the world, including the Indo-Pacific region, would have an extremely destabilizing effect from the standpoint of international and regional security. It would trigger a new spiral of the arms race, fraught with unpredictable consequences.

Russian Spokeswoman maintained that all sides should search for a diplomatic solution and indicated that Moscow remains open to equitable and constructive work for restoring confidence, strengthening international security and global strategic stability in the post-INF world.

In fact, presently the unspoken rule of “might is right” is being employed by the world powerful countries by using honey coated terms such as principled approach, rules-based strategy, and preemptive defense etc. Whereas all such moves were consisting of offensive designs and unilateral demonstration of power deterrence. The deployment of US missile systems in Indo-Pacific region under the ploy of securing the disputed Japanese islands is far more than being stated. It should be seen as moderate phase of US’s China containment and countering Russian resurgence Policy. After, Political and economic blockade of both China and Russia, now United States in corroborated military dimension in its strategy. The Russian Spokeswoman has underlined Russian objection on the America’s move and similar note has been issued by Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian and said that the US should treat China and Sino-US relations in an objective and rational manner, discard the Cold War and zero-sum thinking, and respect China’s sovereignty, security, and development interests. United States move is indicative of some substantial changes in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly with regard to Taiwan, Hong Kong and South China Sea. Apparently, the world is heading to next cold war, However, government of Pakistan must prepare itself for emerging situation in the region. Pakistan and its people had paid huge cost for unwise polices of Country’s leadership in the past. A Pakistan’s centric and neutral play would guaranteed Pakistan’s survival and prosperity of its people.
