US soldier dies in Afghanistan vehicle incident

KABUL: One US soldier killed and two others were injured in vehicle incident in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan where an operation is underway against the Islamic State (IS) militant group.

The NATO led forces issued a statement in this regard and according to it one US soldier killed and two others were injured during a vehicle incident in Nangarhar province on Monday. The statement added that the incident was not the result of militant’s action and adding that the treatment of two injured US servicemen are underway.

General John Nicholson, Commander, U.S. Forces in Afghanistan has said that we are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own soldier. He added that our deepest sympathies and prayers are with the families of our fallen and injured comrades.”

The US forces in Afghanistan have resumed operations mainly involving support to the Afghan forces to fight the terror groups.
