BEIRUT (Agencies): The US Embassy in Beirut on Wednesday called on Americans in Lebanon to maintain a low profile after an Israeli attack wounded thousands, killed several others and targetted Hezbollah.
In an email to US citizens, the embassy said the telecoms explosions led to reduced availability of bed space in hospitals, limited access to doctors and has resulted in a general reduction in routine care at medical facilities.
The explosion of communications devices across Lebanon on Sept. 17 and 18 served as a reminder for Americans to take appropriate measures to ensure safety and security, the embassy said.
The embassy urged all citizens to monitor the media for the latest developments in Lebanon.
“The widespread nature of ongoing events has led to reduced availability of bedspace in hospitals, limited access to doctors, and has resulted in a general reduction in routine care at medical facilities,” the email said. ”Until the situation stabilizes, US citizens should anticipate limited availability of medical care in Lebanon, most notably in the city of Beirut.”
It further reminded US citizens to avoid all travel to Lebanon and warned citizens living and working in Lebanon that they must accept the risks in remaining.
