Validity of passports extended from five to 10 years to facilitate overseas Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday announced that the validity of the passport has been extended from five to 10 years to facilitate overseas Pakistanis.

Sheikh Rashid announced the good news at a ceremony to launch e-passports in Islamabad. He said that overseas Pakistanis had long been suffering due to the validity being limited to five years.

The e-passport will be equipped with a state-of-the-art biometric chip that includes a number of security features. It will also provide quick and easy immigration assistance to Pakistani citizens while travelling according to international standards. As per details, the use of modern technology will make it impossible to copy an electronic passport.
