PESHAWAR: As many as 359 degrees and 12 gold medals were conferred to students of various disciplines on Saturday during 22nd Convocation of Jinnah College for Women by Vice Chancellor of University of Peshawar (UoP) Prof Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan.
The 22nd Convocation of Jinnah College for Women was held at Convocation Hall of UoP where a great number of students, parents of graduates, faculty members, pro-vice chancellor, registrar, Deans and syndicate members, head of different education institutions, and others were present on the occasion.
The gold medalist students of BSC included Hafiza Fatima Rehmani, Sumbal Naz, Sara, Sidratul Muntiha while Wajeeha Riaz, Farhana and Hira Farooq clinched gold medals in BA. The gold medalists from BS Economics were Faiza Arif and Hania Shah while from BS Chemistry were Tahira Parveen and Zulaikha Rafiq were given gold medals.
However, the degrees and gold medals were awarded to students of 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 session.
While speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan, said that Jinnah College for Women is a brand of University of Peshawar and its administration will look after its demands to keep its premium status of imparting girls’ education in the country.
He said this is the great achievement of University of Peshawar that it established Jinhan College for Women which played a key and unprecedented role in encouraging girls to come forward. He eulogized parents of positions and degree holder’s students for providing opportunities to get them educated and this it happened today in reality.
Mr Asif felicitated the parents for educating their girls in a premium college and saying the graduates should now come forward to play their key role in development and prosperity of the country. The Vice Chancellor assured that current administration will restructure F.A and FSC programs to bolster intake and quality at the same time.
While presenting the annual report of the College, Prof.Dr. Shazia Babar principal Jinnah College for Women said that JCW has excelled in all of the board, university and academic results that show the quality of education being imparted in the college. She praised the college former principal Safia Hassan for providing a strong base for college to stand tall among other higher education institutions. She urges the administration to look in to the outgoing faculty and to bring in the resources.
