ISLAMABAD: London’s New Year’s Day Parade (LNYDP) will have a touch of Pakistan with the country’s high commission displaying a tourism promotion video titled “Visit Pakistan” during the iconic event.

Pakistan joins 12 other nations in promoting their country’s tourism during the LNYDP on screens sprinkled throughout the parade route including recognizable corners Piccadilly Circus, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square and historic landmarks like Big Ben.

The video includes statements from Prime Minister Imran Khan, images and videos spanning Pakistan’s wide land terrains and stunning natural geography and of course images of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s visit to Pakistan earlier this year in October. The video will be played over a soundtrack of Pakistan’s national anthem.

The LNYDP will have an estimated 650,000 attendees watching the colorful welcome to the new year and will be broadcast across a number of channels to both local and global audience estimated to hit over 1 million.

Pakistan is having a stellar year in terms of tourism, following the highly publicized visits of the British royals as well as that of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman along with a slew of YouTube travel vloggers making Pakistan a prime focus on their channels.

Pakistan has also recently been named by a number of publications including Conde Nast Traveler and The British Backpacker Society, as a must-visit destination in 2020.

The government has placed a strong focus on opening Pakistan’s borders to religious tourism. Pakistan encompasses a vast religious history that includes significant locations for a number of religions including Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism.

This year, the country hosted a landmark opening of Kartarpur corridor with India welcoming Sikh pilgrims with lax visitation laws, which has already made Pakistan a prized tourist place.
