‘Walk out by CMs from NEC moot a matter of concern’

F.P. Report

QUETTA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP)’s Chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said walk out staged by chief ministers of smaller provinces from the meeting of National Economic Council (NEC) is matter of grave concern. He said this while addressing Quetta Bar Association function and later press conference in Party office here Thursday.

He held that two parties had not opposed FATA merger committee from the beginning. The opposing merging of FATA with KP by the two parties after committee recommendations is not loyalty with Pakhtun people. People of FATA want merging. He went on to say the incidents of lawlessness would affect CPEC and other projects.

He stated federation should place focus on provinces. The federal government is under pressure, he added. The Pakhtuns and Balochis have not been given their due rights. Rise in political temperature and tension is not in national interest, he remarked. The parliamentarians are saying parliament is helpless, he underlined. All the political parties should pave the way for peaceful elections. Holding polls on time is must, he added.

Punjab is the biggest province of the country but such situation was created due to apathy of PML-N, he held. PML-N government is facing the consequences for not taking the political parties on board, he underlined. Implementation of National Action Plan is must for the sake of peace, he urged. Focus should be placed on peace beyond politics, he stressed.

The change should come through polls rather than changing political loyalties, he added. Money role in polls is not a good omen, he remarked. He stressed that issue of missing persons should be sorted out. People are feeling them isolated due to missing persons, he added.
