Wapda faces acute shortage of 1235 staff

PESHAWAR: WAPDA Hazara region facing acute shortage of technical and clerical staff as 1235 posts are lying vacantm said President Hydro Union Hazara region Jameel Tanoli while talking to APP Thursday.

He further said that owing to the 1235 different vacant posts work load on existing employees have been increased, hydro union also refused to work more than 8 hours and demanded to immediately fill the vacant posts. Jameel Tanoli while giving the details of the available positions in Hazara region said that, the two circles Manshera and Abbottabad are facing the shortage of 1235 staff members of 864 are vacant in Abbottabad and 371 in Manshera with 70 percent technical, 30 percent clerical and meter reading staff, he added.

He said that from last many years these posts are vacant in the both circles which has increased the burden of work on present employees. The federal government have a chance to provide opportunity to the locals by filling vacancies in the region and can win their hearts. Talking about the working conditions of the Wapda Hazara region employees Jameel Tanoli said that fifty percent employees have been retired or transferred to other places, rest of the workers are performing double duties.

Unfortunately from last seven months administration did not pay their TA bills, half daily wages and they are still earning more than two billion rupees per month for their department. Giving the comparison with Bannu region Jameel Tanoli said that despite huge losses and very low recovery their employees ratio is more than 95 percent but in Hazara region regardless of hundred percent recovery and reduced line losses nobody is paying attention to this huge gap of 1235 vacant posts.
