Wapda successfully defends Women National Volleyball title

ISLAMABAD: Defending champion Wapda, yet again, won Women National Volleyball Championship, as it defeated Pakistan Army in the final in a nail-biting thriller by 3 to 1 set with 24-26, 25-18, 25-14 and 25-21 points.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja was the Chief Guest at the concluding ceremony of the championship. She gave away trophies to the winner and runners-up. In addition, she also distributed medals among the players and officials of the teams securing first, second and third position in the event.

The 5-day Women National Volleyball Championship was held under the aegis of Pakistan Volleyball Federation at Liaqat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. Besides the finalists, eight other teams participated in the championship including Higher Education Commission (HEC), Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK and Islamabad.
