MAZAR-I-SHARIF: First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum has been once again denied entry to Afghanistan, reliable sources claimed on Thursday.

Dostum, who heads the Junbish-i-Milli Islami political party, on Wednesday night tried to enter Afghanistan from neighboring Uzbekistan, but he was prevented, the sources told Pajhwok Afghan News.

They added the first Vice President had arrived in Uzbekistan and from there he wanted to come to Afghanistan on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, but he was not allowed.

But Bashir Ahmad Taianj, spokesman of the Junbish party, rejected the claims and said the first vice president was in Turkey not in Uzbekistan.

Dostum moved to Turkey after he was accused of detaining, torturing and molesting Ahmad Eshchi, a senior member of his party and former governor of Jawzjan province, Dostum’s stronghold.

Dostum has formed a political alliance called “Afghanistan Salvation Alliance” with Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor and Second Chief Executive (CEO) Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq in Turkey.
