F. P Report

TIMERGARA: The Wardak tribe of Pakhtun nationality on Monday announced to bravely defend Pakistan against any foreign aggression.

The announcement was made during a grand convention of the Wardak tribe held at Zwall Baba near Timergara here with elder of the tribe from Baluchistan Mir Qasim Wardak in the chair. Hundreds of Wardak tribesmen from Lower and Upper Dir, Swat, Buner, Islamabad and Quetta attended the convention. Former senator Faseeh ud Din Wardak, Mir Qasim Wardak, advocate Ahmad Riaz Wardak, Attaullah Khan Wardak, Muhammad Ilyas Wardak, Munda tehsil nazim Humayun Khan and others spoke on the occasion.

Poets and literati shed light on the history of Wardak tribe and its migration to parts of Pakistan. They said that a province on the name of Maidan Wardak still existed in Afghanistan. The speakers said that forefathers of the tribe migrated from Afghanistan centuries ago and settled in different areas of Pakistan.

They said that Wardaks had been residing in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kashmir and India. The speakers said the tribesmen should feel proud of being Wardak as they had a bright history of bravery, courage and wisdom. The speakers asked the participants to include ‘Wardak’ part of their names in national identity cards for their separate identity.

“We are here to organize the scattered tribesmen for strengthening inter-relation and resolution of social problems being faced by them,” Mir Qasim from Quetta said, adding the tribe had planned to hold workers’ convention on district level and then announce its central, provincial and district organizations throughout Pakistan. He said the organization of Wardak had nothing with politics and it would be a non-political and impartial unity of the tribe.

Later on talking to this scribe one of the organizers Ahmad Riaz Wardak said that people of his tribe constituted a large population in the country but due to disunity they had been deprived of their basic rights. He said the Wardak organization would work for rights of its tribesmen so that no one could keep them deprived even in decision making.
