Wasim Akram criticizes Test pitches in South Africa

Monitoring Desk

KARACHI: Pakistan’s former Test captain and president of Karachi Kings Wasim Akram criticized the pitches used during Test matches between Pakistan and South Africa.

Akram while talking to the media said that the wickets Pakistan and South Africa played on were not up to the Test cricket standard.

“If such pitches were in Pakistan, they would have been reported immediately,” he said.

Former fast bowler said that Pakistan have got no other good option than going with Sarfraz Ahmed as captain of the team in all three formats.

Akram said that Sarfraz is a man with good leadership skills and has some good achievements under his belt as a captain.

“If anyone has another name to lead the test side then reveal it,” he said. “Sarfraz needs some more time to get rid of the things in Test cricket,”

To a query regarding the replacement of the team’s head coach Mickey Arthur, he said that if anyone thinks that replacing him is a solution then it is totally wrong.

On the other hand, Akram is going to establish first-ever international standard cricket academy in Multan to give youngsters a chance to polish their skills. “Players will be trained under high-class facilities,” he said.

Former pacer said that Pakistan has stopped producing quality off-spinners and extracting good spinners will be their top priority. “I have approached Ajmal and Qadir for my academy,” said Akram.

He also revealed that his academy will also contain a golf course which will be named as Rumanza and is going to be a good course for budding golfers.
