Water level in Panjkora rises due to torrential rains in Dir

F.P. Report

TIMERGARA: The water level in the Panjkora River rose on Friday after torrential rains in both Lower and Upper Dir areas. The hill tops in Adenzai, Maidan and Samar Bagh recorded snowfall while it continued to rain on Thursday night and Friday.

Due to recent spell the rise in water level in the Panjkora river forced the Lower Dir administration to issue warning to residents living near the river banks. In a statement issued from the office of deputy commissioner Lower Dir, residents have been asked to stay away from the river banks. It said that due to slippery roads the drivers must take care while driving vehicles on rainy days. Traffic at two points at Talash remained suspended for more than two hours when floodwater in a dry stream flowed in it. The vehicle bound for Bajaur, Chitral and Upper Dir stranded for hours due to overflow of floodwater in the stream. Similarly vehicles bound for Mardan, Peshawar and Rawalpindi from Timergara also stranded for more than two hours.
