We have rich culture of Buddhism, Gandhara: Shaukat

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Shaukat Ali Yousafzai  has  said that we have rich culture of Buddhism and Gandhara in our country. 

Our region has been the center of the world’s oldest cultures. 

Provincial government is encouraging tourism to bring Tourists from across the world to cultures like Buddhism and Gandhara. To attract more international tourists, we have started online visa system for 175 countries and provincial government is taking all possible measures to provide tourists with the best facilities.

He expressed these views in an event organized by the Peshawar Museum after successful exhibition of Buddha in Switzerland. Swiss ambassador Thomas Kolly, members of the provincial Assembly, secretaries of various departments and other guests attended the ceremony.

Thomas Kolly thanked the provincial government for sending historical statue of Buddha to Switzerland which made the exhibition successful.

The provincial minister said that it is a matter of pride for country that international Tourist showed keen interest in the statue sent from Pakistan. He said that such kind of moves would make the friendship more strong between Pakistan and Switzerland.

He said that there are many Buddhist and Gandhara places around the world, but fifteen hundred years old and most important places are situated in Mardan, Takhtbhai, Taxila and Swat.
