WhatsApp introduces new feature to share videos in high quality

Monitoring Desk

CALIFORNIA: WhatsApp, the widely popular messaging app, is rolling out a new feature that will allow users to send high-quality videos and enhancements for profile icons within group chats.

Wabetainfo, which closely monitors development in the WhatsApp, said the app has submitted a new update through the TestFlight beta Program, bringing the version up to 23.13.0.76.

It said that the latest feature is currently available to some beta testers. The HD option appears on screen when selecting a video from the Photos app.

The new feature preserves the original dimensions of the video, but it also slightly compresses it. This means that user cannot share videos in their original quality, “but we can assure you that the quality is really improved with this option”.

When users share a video using the high-quality option, the recipient will be notified about it.

The new feature is currently not available when sharing videos via status updates.
