ISLAMABAD: Former interior minister and AML leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that if alive he will context next general elections.
Talking to the media after court appearance in Rawalpindi on Saturday, Sheikh Rashid said he had nothing to do with the plethora of cases against him.
The anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi extended the interim of Sheikh Rashid until January 4 next year in the cases relating to May 9 vandalism.
Judge Malik Ijaz Asif heard Sheikh Rashid’s bail application.
The public prosecutor pleaded with the court that the investigation of these cases is ongoing, so more time should be given.
However, the court expressed its displeasure over not presenting the record of the cases even today and directed to complete the investigation and submit the record by next date.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till January 4 next year due to the winter vacation of courts.
Talking to the media, Sheikh Rashid said “I have nothing to do with these cases of May 9 because I was not present there on that date.”
Sheikh Rashid said “I was barred from talking to the media whereas I have always respected the institutions.”
Sheikh Rashid said “If I remain alive, I will definitely contest the next election.”
