Wolesi Jirga members start 45-day vacations

Monitoring Desk

KABUL: The 45-day winter vacations of the Wolesi Jirga started after holding 54 general gatherings.

According to administrative board of Wolesi Jirga, they were successful in the last session. The activities during this period of time were as per the law.

Secretary of Wolesi Jirga, Irfanullah Irfan said the Wolesi Jirga held 54 general gatherings in the 16th constitutional round.

He said the lawmakers discussed 1050 public issues in this period of time. Several laws, orders and drafts were approved.

The conflict between the government and Wolesi Jirga remained under discussion throughout the year.

As per the law, the lawmakers would now go to their constituencies to meet the people to know about their problems. After the start of the new session, the lawmakers would discuss the public issues in the house.

However, some people are of the view that the lawmakers prefer spending their vacations on foreign tours and personal activities rather than going to their constituencies.

The legal tenure of the Wolesi Jirga has already ended. However, the lawmakers are still performing their duties on the wish of Afghan president due to delay in the next polls.
