PESHAWAR: A woman was killed when a test drive of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) hit her in Hayatabad, on Saturday.
According to police officials, a woman identified as Lubna, Resident of Tehkal Bala was hit by BRT near police school of investigation in Phase 3 Hayatabad, while crossing BRT track and received several injuries.
She was shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) where she succumbed to injuries.
The Bus driver namely Sanan left the scene after committing crime. Police registered First Information Report (FIR) against the driver and started further investigation.
Meanwhile, the provincial government ordered the Deputy Commissioner to submit a report of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) incident.
The police said that first information report (FIR) of the incident has been registered. The police said that the woman had died on the spot.
According to details, Lubna was a housemaid who used to work at houses in Hayatabad. She was on her way back to home when the incident occurred.
Her husband, Dost Muhammad, told The Frontier Post that his family and home were not only mourning the death of Lubna but also his three children were deprived of mother’s love.
He maintained that no government official visited yet contacted him after the tragic incident. “I want the driver to be arrested immediately,” Dost Muhammad said while asking the government for justice.
It is worth mentioning that Bus Rapid Transit bus was on test drive when the incident happened.
