Woman killed one name of honor in Jhelum

JHELUM: Another woman has been killed on the name of honor on Friday in Pind Dadan Khan area of Jhelum.

According to details, the deceased was identified as Shagufta and she sought to marry a man named Hussain but her family refused her to wed the man of her own will and eventually she run away with Hussain.

Later the family of Shugufta accepted her demand and approves her marriage and brought Shagufta back from Hussain house and later strangled her to death.

Police shifted the body of Shagufta to a local hospital for post mortem after the incident.

Some 500 women are killed each year in Pakistan at the hands of family members over perceived damage to ‘honor’.
