TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): The acting Director of Women Affairs Department of central Uruzgan province and three employees of other departments have been arrested over corruption allegation.
A National Directorate of Security source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the three other detained employees belonged to the governor’s house and police headquarters.
The source said the officials were arrested red-handed stealing 457,500 afghanis which had arrived from Kabul as salaries of the women affairs department’s workers who had been tasked with searching voters in the last presidential election.
According to the source, the joint delegation was supposed to distribute the money among the workers but it did not do so and instead made fake documents for it.
The accused individuals have so far said nothing in this regard.
