GHOR: The protests in Ghor province of Afghanistan, over demands for justice and increased infrastructural development, continued for their 10th day in FirozKoh, the capital of the province, and were joined by women. The protesters have blocked the gates of all government institutions and have called on the central government to address their problems.

“It has been ten days since our brothers have been protesting in the cold and most of them have become sick, so now all of the sisters have risen up to claim their right, which is electricity and roads,” said NooriaAhmadi, a protestor.

“For the past eighteen years the demand of the Ghor people was that electricity and roads should be built, but unfortunately the central government has still not paid us any attention,” said Angela Sharifi, another protestor. Ghor residents protest what they call an “unbalanced” fiscal year government budget for the province.

The protesters have demanded that a competent committee be formed to meet their demands, which are the construction of roads and access to electricity.

“Our demand of the central government is to take steps to provide electricity and road construction, which has not been completed in eighteen years,” said MahtabKhalidi, another protestor.

On Tuesday, the president’s spokesman SediqSediqqi, wrote on Twitter that President Ghani had commissioned a delegation to travel to Ghor province within two days and hear the demands of the protesters.

Meanwhile, Ghor governor GhulamNasirKhaze said that a delegation from Kabul will come to Ghor soon to look into the problems of the protesters.

However, protesters warn that they will continue their protest until their problems are addressed.(TOLOnews)
