KABUL (Khaama Pres): The Fortune Magazine has published the name of Fawzia Koofi, an Afghan women rights activist and ex-Afghan parliamentarian among the 50 greatest leaders of the world. Fawzia Koofi is now in Doha negotiating on Afghan peace process with the Taliban together with other three women and 18 men negotiators from the Afghan republic side.
According to reports, Fawzia Koofi has escaped two times life attack so far, one in 2010 and the latest in 2020, which the Taliban denied to have been involved in. The last 20 years were a great opportunity for the women in Afghanistan to work and get educated, the chance that was not there for the Afghan women during the Taliban and Mujahideen times.
Now, Afghanistan has reached a very critical point and again there is an enormous opportunity for the country to reach a political settlement and a peace deal with the Taliban, the group that fought with the government for the last 20 years, thousands killed, injured, and displaced from both sides during this time.
A number of the international and regional players have also reached a consensus to mark an end to Afghanistan’s 42-year-old war, believing this prolonged war has negatively affected both regional and international players.
