Women not allowed to caste vote in Swabi, TT Singh areas

SWABI: More than 6,000 women could not exercise their right to vote in Adina Village of NA-20 in Swabi as the leaders of the area have decided that the females will not exercise their right.

The residents of the area took a unanimous decision today to impose complete ban on women to cast vote.

However, the staff is present at the polling station but the voting women are missing.

On the other hand more than 1200 registered women voters are not allowed to vote in Devi Das, a suburb of Toba Tek Singh.

The number of registered women voters in Devidas is 1256.

However, polling station staff waiting for women voters since morning but not a single vote could be cast so far.

The people of the area said that votes have not been cast since the establishment of Pakistan, even elderly women are not allowed to vote.

“Women are not allowed to cast their votes because they are bound by tradition”, they said.
