Women’s Empowerment

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Human Rights and Women Empowerment unveiled a 100-day plan, developed by the Ministry of Human Rights as a comprehensive package aimed at enhancing the overall human rights landscape and promoting women’s empowerment in Pakistan. A magnificent launching ceremony was held at the Governor House Lahore to showcase the 100-Day Plan along with the Execution and Achievements by the Caretaker Government over the past almost four months. The plan encompasses a wide array of initiatives spanning critical areas such as girls’ education, economic empowerment, healthcare, domestic violence, gender inequality, child marriage, access to justice, and political participation etc.

Human Rights and Women’s Empowerment are two important elements of a civilized society in the modern world, however, these important subjects are often covered and performed by the relevant government departments and the private sector. The role of the Ministry of Human Rights and Women’s Empowerment is largely advisory and includes addressing human rights violations, and advocacy for policy changes to empower women through ensuring their fundamental rights within the society.

Historically, the caretaker setups are formed for a short period between the dissolution of federal or provincial assemblies and the establishment of a freshly elected government in the country solely to fulfil a constitutional requirement and ensure transparency in the electoral process. However, the incumbent setup is working well beyond its prerogative, some act out of their nationalism while others work for popularity and fame. Despite a trivial mandate, the caretaker government has touched almost all aspects of our national life from the economy to national security, the repatriation of refugees, dealing with the IMF and the World Bank along with bringing reforms in education, healthcare, human and women’s rights in a bid to put its long-lasting marks in the country’s history. Interestingly, the results have been amazing yet their continuity and preservation is a matter of concern for the public.
