LAHORE: Indian authorities claimed that Pakistan expressed its desire to play 2023 ODI World Cup matches in just Chennai and Kolkata – the two venues where the team felt secure during its earlier tours.
According to Indian media reports citing ICC sources, the PCB team will favor these two venues since they have previously felt comfortable there throughout their visits.
On the other hand, PCB management committee Chairman Najam Sethi, confirmed last week in an interview that Pakistani supporters do not want the Men in Green to play World Cup games in India if India does not agree to play Asia Cup games in Pakistan.
The tournament will start on October 5 and include 46 games, including the final game that will be contested in 12 different Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Lucknow, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Guwahati, and Dharamsala.
There are discussions about this matter going on at the ICC level, and top representatives of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are currently in meetings with a senior ICC executive, as per reports.
PCB insiders said Pakistan is committed to replying in the same coin if India would not visit Pakistan for playing Asia Cup matches.
