World must raise voice against agony of Kashmiri women: Mushaal

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Mushaal Hussain Mullick, wife of detained Kashmiri freedom leader Yasin Malik, has said the International Women’s Day (IWD) was the occasion to show solidarity with the hapless women of the Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) who have been stripped of basic human rights and enslaved for over two centuries.

Talking to  media on Friday, she said, “On the IWD, the world celebrates women day and renews its pledge to raise voice for gender parity, equality and freedom”.

About the IWD theme for the year 2019 ‘Balance for Better’, Mushaal said the world needed to see the imbalance in the Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, adding that the largest occupation force of the world had been deployed in the IHK where rape against women was being used as a weapon of war. To a question, she said the world must pay heed to the plight of women in the Jammu and Kashmir, claiming the IHK was the home to the largest number of half-mothers, half-widows and the widows. To a query, the Kashmiri woman activist called upon the women across the globe to raise voice against the discrimination being meted out to women in IHK at all international forums. She expressed the hope that the Kashmiri women in the IHK would soon be free and treated as equal with the other women.

Earlier, in a video message, Mushaal Mullick appealed to the world to help her daughter access to her father, adding that her husband had been arrested by the Indian occupation forces in the IHK under the sham Public Safety Act (PSA). She

said her husband was innocent whose only crime was that he waged a struggle to win right to self-determination for the downtrodden Kashmiris. Mushaal said women activists in the IHK had been jailed and were being tortured for their voice for freedom from the Indian yoke. Mushaal Mullick, further said, women and children were most vulnerable and the world must take cognisance of the situation on the occasion of IDD 2019.
