KABUL (Pajhwok): National Security Advisor (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib has called on Taliban fighters not to sacrifice their lives for their leaders who were based abroad and had no concern for Afghanistan. Mohib made these remarks during the introduction ceremony for a new 201stSelab Military Corps commander in the east on Monday.
“Those you are fighting for, they live in peace in Quetta, Peshawar and Karachi, their children are raised in other countries, they have no heart connection with Afghanistan,” Mohib told the militants, asking them not to destroy their own country. “Don’t destroy Afghanistan’s wealth, May Allah (swt) bless you if you make peace.”
Mohib said: “Afghans are upset for you because foreign intelligence use you (Taliban) for their personnel goals and make home destructions through you.” According to him, if the war in Afghanistan was holy, why Taliban leaders were not doing it themselves. “Why don’t they send their children (to the war), they are saving their business and smuggling by using you, don’t sacrifice yourself for them and don’t destroy your house.”
Mohib said militants who were ready to make peace were welcomed and their concerns and complaints would be heard and responded to. He claimed militants had been weakened and currently they had gathered their men from all over Afghanistan for fighting in Kandahar and Helmand, but no one was cooperating with them. He added the insurgents inflected casualties on civilians in many explosions so how they would answer to Allah (swt) and victims’ families. The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
