Zardari promises tough fight during elections in Punjab

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday directed party workers to prepare for elections saying they will fully compete in Punjab this time around.

The statement was made during the PPP co-chairman’s meeting with party ticket-holders from Sargodha at Bilawal House Lahore.

“The PPP will form the government not just in centre, but in Punjab too, after the next general election,” he said.

Maintaining the past general election as “RO’s elections”, the former president said results of such elections only measure political parties’ rigging of polls, not their popularity.

He claimed to change the political scenario in Punjab ahead of the election. “A party having loyal workers cannot be defeated by anyone in fair elections.”

“Some noted individuals have been in contact with us and soon some major announcements will be made,” Zardari added.
