NANGARHAR: As many as 11 militants of Islamic State (IS) Khorasan group were killed in US airstrike conducted by the US forces in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
The provincial government confirmed that the airstrike were conducted in Achin district of Nagarhar on Tuesday and targeted militant’s hideouts in Momand Dara and Dab villages of the district.
Sources said that weapons and ammunition of the militants were also destroyed during the airstrike.
Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in East of Afghanistan but the anti-government armed militants have increased their insurgency activities in some districts of the province during the recent years.
