KUNDUZ: At least thirteen policemen were killed and another went missing when the gunmen attacked the three security check-posts in Khanabad district in Kunduz province.
District governor, Hayatullah Hayat told media persons that the gunmen attacked three checkpoints on Kunduz-Takhar highway in the Khanabad district on Sunday, in which thirteen policemen were killed and another one was still missing.
He added that 15 policemen were deployed in three checkpoints and only one survives in the attack.
Residents told local media that fierce gunfight occurred in the area and later they saw Taliban taking away an armoured vehicle after the attack.
Spokesman of Taliban, Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility of the attack and adding that 17 policemen, including their commander Gulbadin were killed in the gunfight. A Taliban fighter also lost his life in the clash. The Taliban took away a vehicle and multiple weapons from the checkpoints, he maintained.
