2,335 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Afghanistan

KABUL (TOLO News): The Ministry of Public Health spokesman Wahidullah Mayar said on Friday that in the past 24 hours, 164 positive cases have been recorded across the country, and the country total is 2,335.

Mayar says that 168 out of 569 samples from 14 provinces came back positive in the last 24 hours.

The 164 new cases were reported in Kandahar (45), Kabul (44), Herat (24), Baghlan (13), Nangarhar (6), Jawzjan (6), Balkh (4), Badghis (4), Laghman (3), Bamiyan (4), Samangan (3), Kapisa (5), Parwan (1), and Wardak (2).

Mayar says the spread of the coronavirus in the community is very high and no one is safe, adding that 228 health workers have been infected with COVID-19 in the country and most of them are in Herat province.

According to the ministry, so far more than 10,593 samples have been tested.

The number of reported recoveries in the country is 310, while 68 have died.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 233,439, and more than 3 million have been infected with the virus, according to Johns Hopkins University.
