HERAT: Three drivers and a cop were killed as Taliban attacked a logistic convoy of foreign forces in Shindand district in Herat province on Thursday.
Taliban attacked a logistic convoy of foreign forces in Chargorguk area in the limits of Shindand district, reliable sources told AIP.
Three drivers and a cop were killed while another policeman was injured in the gunfight, the sources said. Five loaded vehicles were burnt, the sources said. Information about casualties to Taliban was not available at the moment, the sources added.
Foreign forces, security officials of Herat and Taliban have not said anything in this regard so far.
It is pertinent to mention here that private security companies were responsible to protect logistic convoy of foreign forces in Afghanistan in the past. However, the private security firms were abolished during the government of Hamid Karzai. Currently, the civilian order police of the interior ministry are responsible to provide security to the logistic convoy of foreign forces in Afghanistan. (AIP)
