KABUL (Khaama Press): As Afghanistan’s humanitarian crisis continues to suppress more and more Afghans, the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that are nine million people at risk of famine in the war-ravaged country.
Afghanistan is going through the worst humanitarian situation in decades as foreign aid stalled, the banking and financial system crippled, nearly 20 million people have no jobs, and the prices of food items and fuel have been doubled. Antonio Guterres admitted that Afghanistan’s humanitarian situation has deteriorated alarmingly in the past months.
“I call on donor countries to fund our appeal urgently so that the UN and partners can continue to deliver lifesaving aid.” Wrote Guterres on his Twitter. The UN has been pleading for $4.4 billion for addressing Afghanistan’s humanitarian crisis, the amount that has never been asked for a single country.
The conference in this regard was co-hosted by UK, Germany, and Qatar.
