ACCI concerned over safety of traders

KABUL (TOLOnews): The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) expressed concerns over the safety of traders, saying that 13 traders have been abducted within the last month.
According to the ACCI, the abductors misuse the clothes and appearance of the forces of the Islamic Emirate.
“There have been armed robberies from homes, the stealing of two to three cars. Approximately there were between 12 to 13 incidents that we have been informed about. They were the traders from the private sector,” said Khanjan Alokozai, a member of the ACCI.
“The life and financial protection is something that encourages traders to invest in the country. When the life and business of an investor is not safe, he/she will reduce investment,” said Abdul Naseer Rishtia, an economist.
But the Kabul department of security said that there have been meetings on the issue and the Islamic Emirate is committed to the security of the traders.
“We are in close contact with the traders. We pay full attention to their safety. This is our responsibility. Not only the traders but we will defend all people because this is our responsibility,” said Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for the Kabul security department.
The ACCI said that the traders have also been abducted in other provinces.
Earlier, the intelligence directorate said that four kidnappers were arrested in Dar-e-Sof district of Faryab province.
